A few questions for owners/users of the 54: Have you noticed noise as being a problem?, Do they produce more (pleasant) distortion with increasing levels of compression?, Can you get a fair amount of saturation from the transformers while bypassing the compression?, and final question: With all those transformers, do you have to be careful ....
